Absorption spectrum
Definition: Absorption spectrum describes the fraction of incident radiation that is absorbed by the material as a function of the wavelength, frequency, or photon energy of the incident light. When photons impinge on a medium, their transmission depends on a combination of reflectance, scattering and absorption. Absorption occurs at specific wavelengths, determined by the atomic or molecular properties (energy states) of the materials in the light path.
