Hemisphere

Definition: Hemisphere refers to a half of the cerebrum. The two hemispheres have slight anatomical differences and slightly distinct functional specializations. The right hemisphere controls the left side of the body and vice versa. Such lateralization can readily be measured using fNIRS for many neural functions.
