Illumination
Definition: The term illumination refers to the act of applying light (near-infrared light, 650–950 nm) over an area of interest (such as the individual’s head) using light sources directly or through wave guides (optical fibers). The source of illumination can be a thermal lamp, a light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (LASER), or a light-emitting diode (LED).
