Laser
Definition: Laser is a device that emits light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation. The term laser originated as an acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. As a consequence, the laser produces light within a narrow band of the electromagnetic spectrum (monochromatic). The laser light is also coherent (the light waves are in phase) and highly collimated (all rays are parallel to each other and do not diverge significantly).
