Low-pass filter
Definition: Low-pass filters are used to keep signal frequencies below a certain frequency threshold by attenuating signals above this threshold. As low-pass filters remove high-frequency content of a given signal (e.g., cardiac oscillations or instrument noise) they have the effect of smoothing the signal.
