Total attenuation coefficient

Definition: When absorption and scattering are considered together then we speak of the total attenuation. If we do not account for multiple scattering then Just like there are absorption and scattering coefficients, there is also attenuation or extinction coefficient, which is the sum of the absorption coefficient and the scattering coefficient (not the reduced scattering coefficient).
